Our New Patient Experience
There are two main types of dental examinations for new patients: comprehensive exams and limited oral evaluations.
- Limited Oral Evaluation
- A limited oral evaluation is a type of exam focused on the patient’s most immediate concern. Whether it is a single chipped tooth, tooth pain, these exams are designed to diagnose and sometimes complete necessary treatment. Our patient care coordinators can help you choose which exam type is best for you. We do our best to leave room in our doctor’s schedules every day for patients with emergency dental problems. - Comprehensive Exam
- Comprehensive exams involve an evaluation of the head and neck including the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and supporting muscles (extra-oral), and gums, teeth, lips and tongue (intra-oral).
- What you can expect:
- Photographs
- Radiographs (x-rays)
- A dental interview followed by examination and explanation of findings
- As oral physicians, we evaluate the health of the soft tissues (gums, lips, tongue, cheeks) and hard tissues (tooth structure and the supporting bone). During your exam, we will educate you on our findings and discuss your options for treatment if necessary.
